The annual rainfall is low (usually under 60 cm), we get more sun than most of Scotland, we occasionally have haars when a mist blankets the coast,
we often have gloriously wild winds and brilliant sun;
temperatures are rarely as high as 30 degrees Celsius; 5-day weather forecasts are nearly always fairly accurate, but you can never be sure of our weather.
The midsummer sun rises shortly after 4 am (BST) and sets just before 10 pm;
in midwinter sunrise is about 8.30 am (GMT) and sunset about 3.30 pm.
